I have a dream that all Americans will stop with the win at all costs approach to politics. That people will think of themselves as American’s first instead of identifying by a political party. How refreshing would it be if liberals could learn from conservatives and vice versa. How great would it be if we listened more and shouted less. If we lived as if we had lots to learn instead of living as if we know everything.

Martin Luther King Jr day was celebrated with an interesting conversation with the civil rights icons niece Dr. Alveda King. She shares her pro life beliefs of protecting people from the womb to the tomb despite what she calls her personal mistake of having abortions as a younger woman. Alveda King says her uncles belief in all people being equal and having inalienable rights includes the unborn child. She remembers going to church service and kitchen conversations with Martin Luther King Jr. who she says was a flawed man who tried to live as Jesus did.

Longtime Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence is leaving politics. Lawrence is the only elected African American representing the state of Michigan in Congress. Her decision comes after 3 decades in politics of working to better community. She says it is her desire to spend more time with family not redistricting maps that led to her decision.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer gave her State of the State address virtually this year because of Covid concerns. The Governor was upbeat and positive speaking of how best to spend the windfall of federal money the State is currently sitting on.
